Within easy reach of the cottage there are opportunities for:

The village of Ffarmers is about 5 minutes drive away or 25 minutes walk. It has a post office and pub, the Drover’s Arms, which does a take-away service and an excellent à la carte menu. A local Shell Checkpoint garage sells basic groceries and is about 10 minutes drive away. The small university town of Lampeter is a 20 minute drive away with post office, banks, supermarkets, take-aways and a wide selection of cafes and pubs. The West Wales coast is a further 15 minutes away where you’ll find the scenic resort of Aberaeron and a variety of beaches.

Other information about the area can be found at the West Wales or the Mid Wales Tourism websites.

I keep a suggestions book at the cottage where you can find more details, especially favourites of mine and those of previous visitors.

"Thankyou for sharing your retreat with us. We loved the cottage and the tranquility. Highlights of the week were the Teifi Pools circular walk (11mls from Strata Florida Abbey or 7mls from the end of the lane), the fresh seafood bought from the harbour at Aberaeron, the mountain drive from Devil's Bridge to Rhiwant, the underground tour of the goldmines and the good food served at the Drovers's Arms - Gill, Graham and (now exhausted) dog, Amy."

"The Cottage is a real gem. It did everything it said on the tin! What a lovely setting with fantastic scenery all around. Cassie and I had some lovely walks. Teifi Pools was the highlight. Visited Newquay, Aberaeron. Loved Ceibach Beach. Thanks." - Christina

"Enjoyed our stay in your lovely, quiet, cosy cottage - the week went all too quickly. We walked through the forest to the mining lake, passing the 'deserted village' on the way, and walked back along the ridge. Also walked along the bottom of the ridge footpath on to the road and took the footpath past 'sychnant' (take gate on left just before the farmhouse) out onto the open access land. We went to the cairn and then followed the track and field footpath back to the road to Ffarmers - a bit of road walking then, back to the cottage. Have seen lots of buzzards and red kites. Thanks for everything." - Margaret, Steve and Coco

"Perfect week of respite. Walked the ridge from end to end. Visited weaving museum at the Cambrian Mill, but thought thought the family weaving business at the Rock Mill marked of real history that won't be around much longer. Cei Bach great. NT at Llanechaeron very good. Enjoyed the cows and the log-burning stove, above all the piece and quiet." - Christine
